Surface Chemistry
at the University of California Riverside

Francisco Zaera, Research Director

The overall goal of our research is to understand the mechanism of surface reactions at the molecular level. Towards this goal, we use a number of surface-sensitive techniques, including temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ion scattering (ISS), secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) together with molecular beams and atmospheric pressure cells. We focus on catalytic and material science problems.
