Job Openings

Postdoctors

Applications are always considered for postdoctoral positions in our laboratory.  The details of the specific research projects are open for discussion, and would encompass one or more of the ongoing efforts in our laboratory (check under "Research" on the left).  Extensive experience in surface science-UHV work and a good background in surface chemistry are desirable.  Knowledge in infrared spectroscopy is a plus.

Applicants should submit to Prof. Francisco Zaera at the address on the right the following:

  • Your curriculum vitae
  • A publication list
  • Copies of a couple of your most recent preprints
  • An essay about your skills, working habits, etc.
  • Three letters of recommendation

Graduate Students

There is always room in our laboratory for qualified graduate students.  However, candidates must first apply and be accepted to our UCR Graduate Program.  You need to fill out our Departmental application form on the web, and submit your undergraduate (and graduate if available) transcripts, your GRE scores, and three letters of recommendation to the Department of Chemistry or directly to me at the address on the right. If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, you will  need to fill a different international application form.  Also, if you are not a native English speaker, you will need to take the TOEFL.  Taking the Test of Spoken English (TSE) is also highly encouraged, and is used to set priorities in evaluating international applications.

Be advised that our minimum requirements are a GPA of 3.0 or better, a combined Verbal + Quantitative GRE score of 1100 or above, and a TOEFL score of 550 (paper version) or 213 (electronic) or better.  For more information, contact me or the Chemistry Department (click on one of the links on the right).
