Distinguished Professors Chris Reed and Guy Bertrand, share this tribute. Boron chemistry that impacts both organic and inorganic chemistry. Dr. Julian and Jolene K. Diedrich devised a photofragmentation approach that permits selective breakage of peptide backbones at phosphorylated serine and threonine residues which will render it more facile to pinpoint phosporylation sites.

Dr. Guy Bertrand has been awarded the 2009-2010 Sir Ronald Nyholm Lectureship of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The lectures are concerned with subjects of interest to the Education or Dalton Divisions and the international interests of Sir Ronald Nyholm. Dr. Bertrand will receive a Silver medal and £500.

Professor Guy Betrand and collaborators have found a new, carbene-based gold catalyst for the formation of amines in a one-step fashion. Through this Green Chemistry breakthrough costly and wasteful current two-step processess can be avoided.
